Short answer
The Altra Via Olympus 2 runs true to size for most runners, so start with your usual running shoe size. Lab testers measured it as one of the widest shoes they've ever tested, both at the forefoot and the toe box, so wide feet will feel right at home.

Fit Notes
- Altra Torin 8
- Same size works. Both use zero drop, but the Via Olympus 2 feels noticeably roomier through the forefoot and toe box, and much taller and softer underfoot. If the Torin feels snug across the midfoot, the Via Olympus will feel like a relief.
- Hoka Bondi 9
- Stick with your Bondi size. The Bondi has a 5mm drop and a rounder, narrower toe area, while the Via Olympus sits flat and gives your toes far more room. Both feel stable and heavily cushioned, so the drop is the bigger adjustment.
- ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27
- Same size. The Nimbus has a plush knit upper and a much higher heel. The Via Olympus feels wider up front and flatter overall. Expect your calves to work harder for the first few weeks.
- Brooks Glycerin 22
- Keep your Glycerin size. The Glycerin has a medium-width forefoot and a traditional 10mm drop, so the Via Olympus will feel much roomier for your toes and much lower at the heel.
- Altra Olympus 6
- The trail Olympus 6 runs about a half size short, while the Via Olympus 2 runs true. If you sized up for your Olympus 6, go back to your normal running size here. The Via Olympus also feels softer and wider.
Sizing FAQ
Does the Altra Via Olympus 2 run true to size?
Yes. Most runners and lab testers found it true to size. Order your usual running shoe size and focus on whether the extra-wide fit suits your foot shape.
Does the Altra Via Olympus 2 come in wide?
No, it only comes in standard width. That said, the standard width uses Altra's roomiest Original FootShape fit, which is wider than many brands' wide versions.
Is the Altra Via Olympus 2 good for narrow feet?
Usually not. It's one of the widest running shoes on the market, so narrow feet tend to slide around. Try a heel-lock lacing loop, or look at the slimmer Altra Torin 8 instead.
